Consumer media news 10/09/09

  • Foods Matter, the monthly magazine for those living on restricted diets, is going entirely digital from 1 January 2010.  It is being subsumed into the greatly enlarged and upgraded Foods Matter website at www.foodsmatter.com.  It includes a new section on freefrom food as well as over 2,000 pages of articles and research reports on allergy and intolerance and all the many conditions related to it.
  • Concept for Living has appointed Paula Woods as acting editor.  Woods replaces Caroline Jones, the title’s assistant editor, who was also providing maternity for editor Rebecca Drake.  Jones will continue to contribute to the magazine on a freelance basis.
  • Sainsbury’s Magazine has appointed Katrina Rendall as features assistant.  Rendall will join the monthly supermarket magazine on 14 September, and replace Christina Quaine.
  • Fire & Knives magazine is set to launch in November of this year.  The quarterly print title of “new writing for food lovers” will feature pieces on food culture and history.
  • totallyjewishtravel.com has hired Malcom Ginsberg, editor in chief of AERBT (An Executive Review of Business Travel) to write a fortnightly column.  He would be pleased to hear from travel operators and tour organisers on their future plans and ideas.  He can be contacted at: malcolm.ginsberg@aerbt.co.uk.
  • Herts Lifestyle has changed its name to Style.  The magazine continues to be published by Premier newspapers in Hemel Hempstead, and edited by Abena Bailey.
  • North East Exclusive, a life and style for north east England, has closed.  It was edited by Kathryn Armstrong and published by NCJ Media.
  • Top Sante has appointed Anita Bhagwandas as editorial assistant.
